Activities at Cuboree 2010

Have you ever wished you could be somewhere else or you could be someone else?  Well Cuboree 2010 will be your opportunity to experience what that might be like.

On move in day some Cubs arrive early and some arrive later in the day.  As Cubs arrive they will be entertained at Cherry Lane.  Come and join in the carnival fun – there’s never a dull moment at Cherry Lane.  Visit us when you have time!!

During Cuboree, Cubs will experience life as it might have been “Back in the Dreamtime”.  Experience bush cooking, some animals of the time, some music of the time and lots of indigenous games, quizzes, yarns and activities.

Cubs can also experience life as a circus performer.  Join the fun of the circus!  This could be a Cub’s golden opportunity to get back at Akela for all that difficult badge work - try our dunking machine!  Cubs can test their aim with our sitting ducks, bursting balloons, coin toss or knock down the skittles.  Earn some circus dollars while experiencing all the fun of the circus.

At Cuboree, Cubs will be invited to “wish upon a star”.  Some of these wishes might just come true especially if you wished you could be in Frontier Land or riding logs down treacherous rivers or …

In ye olde Gilwell town we will need to be ever vigilant.  At Cub a lot we will mix with some very shady characters including Maureen’s dungeon keepers (Maureen’s not shady just the dungeon keepers).  After successfully dodging the cannons (another chance to get Aleka) we can sit back and enjoy the court jesters!

With Bazza on the loose ”The Glenrowan Inn” is no place for the faint of heart!  Police and Troopers are few and so they have enlisted Cub Scouts as deputies to help at Bazza’s last stand.  Cubs equipped with their new helmets will be inspired by Captain Daybreak.  They will then be prepared to meet the challenges imposed by Bazza’s Crew.

In 19th Century Victoria there are ever more challenging chores for our Cub Scouts.  Pioneers often call for assistance from our ever ready-to-go Cub Scouts for help with watering horses in the Australian heat, building stockades to protect against attack and defending their flag.  This surely must result in a resounding victory – Eureka!

Isn't the Cuboree theme and logo great?

We have Andrew Henderson to thank, with his winning entry in the Cuboree Theme completion.

Andrew is shown here receiving his award from Russel Bradd (Cuboree Director). As well as a funky award and a fashionable Cuboree jacket, Andrew received something of even greater value - registration #1 for the Cuboree.

Don't forget to say hello to Andrew when you see him at Cuboree.
