Will
Venturers under the age of sixteen years be accepted
as part of the Venturer Service Team.
As this is a Cub Scout Section event it is unlikely
that Venturers under the age of sixteen will be accepted.
Venturers, when accepted, will be attending as part
of the Venturer Service Team. They must have achieved
the Venturer Skills Badge, have been a Venturer for
a minimum of six months and must be sufficiently mature
to look after themselves for 5 days in a camping situation.
The Venturer Service Team will be attending as service
staff and will be allocated duties helping to run various
activities for the Cub Scouts - they will not be participating
in the Cub Scout program.
Where
can I get financial assistance for my child?
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE NEAR FUND:
There is only one opportunity to obtain funding so
this would eliminate a youth member from applying for
funding to attend a Jamboree, overseas event etc, if
they applied for Cuboree.
Deposit must be paid.
Assistance may be available for up to 50% of the total
fee.
Applications must be submitted well in advance of 31
October 2007.
Applications can only be made on behalf of youth members
not adults.
Official form can be downloaded from website www.vicscouts@asn.au
(or perhaps we can place on website).
Refer to information, page 52, 2007 Info Book.
We know there are a lot of people out there financially
stressed so, bearing in mind the information in item
1 above, please do not hesitate to apply for funding
for your child if it will assist.
What
is the NEAR Fund?
The NEAR Fund has a limited amount of money to assist
severely disadvantaged cub scouts to attend.
Cuboree 2008. To apply for assistance you must download
the Application Form from the Scouts Australia Victorian
Branch website. Any funding granted will be limited to
a part payment of the final instalment. To be considered
for any funding assistance Participant Applications must
be submitted and the appropriate deposit paid. The deadline
for submitting a request for assistance from the NEAR
Fund is to be advised.
What time and from where will buses be departing on 31st
March, 2008?
Buses will depart from a number of locations throughout
Victoria but until applications are received and processed
we cannot identify exact pick up points. Departure times
will depend on the location of the pick up points and
for this reason will vary. Those travelling from the suburban
area of Melbourne should plan for a meeting time of around
7.00am.
How
does a Group Leader nominate an additional Group contact
to access and update participant details on the Cuboree
2008 database?
Group Leaders can access the online Application Form through
the Cuboree 2008 website. There is provision in the system
for the Group Leader/Leader-in-Charge to authorise one
other member of the Group to have access to the Cuboree
2008 Application System.
Can Cub Scouts with ‘Special Needs’ attend
the Cuboree 2008?
Yes. The Cuboree 2008 Welfare Team and the Cuboree 2008
Organising Committee will endeavour to ensure that Scouts
with ‘Special Needs’ have a positive experience
at the Cuboree 2008. A letter from parents detailing the
child’s special requirements must be submitted at
the same time as the Participant Application Form.
Who needs to sign the Participant Application Form?
Parents or Guardians must sign the Medical Statement
for all applicants under the age of 18 years. Applicants
18 years and over must sign the Medical Statement themselves.
The Applicant and, if under the age of 18 years, the
Parents or Guardians, must sign the Agreement, Activities
and Authority section of the form.
All Cub Scout and Venturer Applications must have the
Recommendation of both the Cub Scout Leader/Venturer
Leader and the Group Leader/Leader-in-Charge.
All Adult Applications must have the Recommendation
of either the Group Leader/Leader-in-Charge, a District
Commissioner or the Branch Venturer or Rover Council.
